BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, (Rajkot)

BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Rajkot, Gujarat has been situated on Kalawad road of Rajkot which is 4km away from the Rajkot Junction. It was built in 1998 by Param Pujya Pramukhswami Maharaj who was the spiritual head of Bochasanvasi Akshar-Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha. Presently this organization is directed by Pragat Brahmaswarup Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj. This is a Hindu temple of Lord Swaminarayan with his Anadi Mul Aksharmurti (Shri Gunatitanand Swami) and Akshar mukta (Shri Gopalanand Swami).

Arrangement of Murties at BAPS, Swaminarayan Mandir:

The temple consists of three main shrines. An idol of Harikrishna Maharaj which made up of Panchdhatu Murti [composed of five metals- Gold (Au), Silver(Ag), Copper(Cu), Brass and Lead(Pb)] is situated in the first shrine along with marble idol of God Shri Kriashna and his beloved devotee Shri Radhaji.

In the middle shrine there are three idols of marbles of Lord Swaminarayan, Mul Aksharmurti Shri Gunatitanand swami and Akshar mukta Shri Gopalanand Swami respectively.

The third shrine is seated by marble idol of Ghanshyam Maharaj.

In parikrama there are marble idols of Shri Bhagatji Maharaj, Shri Shastriji Maharaj, Yogiji Maharaj and Shri Pramukhswami Maharaj who are the successors of Lord Swaminarayan. The photo murti of Pragat Brahmaswarup Mahantswami Maharaj [the present Guru and president of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS)] has been keeping near the idol of Shri Pramukhswami Maharaj. In the temple premises the separate shrine of Lord Ganesha and Lord Hanumandada are seen.

The garbhagruh (bottom sanctum) is the sacred part of the temple known as Abhishek Mandapam. It offers the devotees to participate in the ‘Abhishek’ ritual. In Abhishek Mandapam there is idol of NeelkanthVarni (balswarup of Bhagwan Swaminarayan) and he is worshipped by the devotees.

Construction of BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir

According to Ancient Vedic Shilpa Shastra techniques, the temple has been constructed and the stones like Ambaji marble, Makrana marble and Udaipur pink marbles has been used in construction of temple. The temple is carved by hand is set upon Carved Pillars. It beautified by toran with Carved Sculpture. This represents the heritage of Hinduism.
