Spawn Production of Mushroom :
Technically spawn is termed as the mushroom seed, which is prepared with the help of plant tissue culture technique by inoculating the healthy fruiting bodies of the mushrooms on a sterilized cereal-based substrate such as wheat, jowar, sorghum, paddy, rye, etc. Thus the mother spawn is ready. The stock may be purchased from reputed institutes from India like National Horticultural Research and Development Foundation, New Delhi, ICAR-Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, HAIC Mushroom and agricultural Development Centre, Murthal, Haryana, Mushroom Centre, CSKHPKV College, Holta, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh.
The following photos represent how to prepare the spawn in systematic order.

Washing wheat grains 
boiling wheat grains 
Drain the water and dry the boiled wheat grains 
Mix the grains with 2% Gypsum and 0.5% calcium carbonate 
Fill these grains in polythene bags 
Sterile these polybags at 1260c temperature with 22 pound pressure for 2 hours and store at 22-250c temperature 
Inoculate these sterile polybags with healthy fruiting bodies of Mushrooms 
Keep these mother culture bags at 23-250c temperature 
Mycelium growth spreads and entire bags show whitening of the grains. SPawn is ready after 20-22 days of inoculating in case of Button Mushroom
